Flavour of the Month: Secrets!
One of the big topics going around Witch-y blogs this month is secrecy and how much you share.
I come across as much more Pagan-ish on my blog … because a lot of the Witch-y stuff just doesn’t get mentioned **at all** As if it does not exist. Which is tough when I’m accused of not being a Witch, because of the Pagan stuff being the most prominent. It’s easy to take the bait and get upset by that. But if certain spirits and certain practices can’t be talked about on a blog, well then that’s the price I pay!
I have a hard time with keeping quiet and keeping secrets. I’ve had a good talking to from my Hedge gals (and certain spirits and such) over that. I have no guile. It doesn’t come naturally.
I WANT to share, for a lot of reasons. One main reason is because I am BAD at not sharing. Damn my glass face, open personality and tendency to trust everyone. Another reason is loneliness and feeling isolated. Another reason is the need to serve and be useful and helpful.
Another reason (one of the main reasons why I started this blog in the… Continue reading
Should Not Have Done That
Okay so, last week, I broke down and installed the plug-in for wordpress that tells you how many people read your blog, how many hits a blog post gets each day, what search words make people find you and so forth.
This was a mistake.
I am now having a fucking anxiety attack. HUNDREDS of people read my blog everyday!!!! Can’t breathe! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
I am seriously considering un-installing the bloody thing. Cause I totally should not have done that. It was stupid. Now I’m scared and paranoid. And I don’t understand. WHY ME? I’m NOT special!! GAH!
Okay. Okay. I can totally do this. It’s going to be alright.
*whimpers*
Soooo … uh, yeah. Heh. Hi there … everyone. How are you?
*scuffles feet*
Uhhh… yeah. *cough*
Now I’m afraid to write stuff.
*hides*
Gah!
This last month or two has been nothing but two steps forward, one step back. Feels like I’ll never get anything done! Gah!
Protected Birds
For those who are wondering, here is the list of protected birds in Canada. Note that Corvids are not on the list.
Now in some parts of the world you can’t even touch roadkill … in others you can safely gather found dead animals and do as you please, so long as you don’t sell the parts. In other parts of the world you can sell the parts or use them for religious purpose etc. I once found a dead owl on the side of the road at a truck stop, and a RCMP officer helped me remove some feathers and carry it into the woods and say a prayer over the body.
So please, don’t write to me screaming about how I broke laws with my dead neighbour the crow. I know what I’m doing folks.
Not
I do not know what to do with this old fox hide I have in storage. I suppose I will continue to sit on it for now.
I do not know why for sure, but skulls (even “fake” ones) really do make the best spirit houses, though Bren’s miniature suit of armour does pretty damned well.
I am not interested in validating (or invalidating) other people’s Path, practice or experiences. Even when told something far fetched, I usually just smile and nod and move on. This cuts down on rather a lot of drama.
I am not very good at making pottery or working with clay, wood working, knitting (I can’t knit at all), drumming, leather work, scrapbooking, drawing, quilting, or baking. But I do try my hand at some of these things now and then. There are also plenty of other things I am good at.
I am not out to prove how awesome I am or to show off. If I was, then I wouldn’t make so many blog posts detailing my fuck ups. My podcast segments would be better prepared and much slicker produced as well.
I have not told Bren about the dead turtle’s shell… Continue reading
