Blessed Hypatia Day to You

I Just Keep Telling Myself

So a couple of transwomen got turned away from a Dianic ritual at PantheaCon. Head on over to the Wild Hunt Blog to find out more. It seems Z. Budapest made a comment on the incident (which she was not at) here’s the quote:

“This struggle has been going since the Women’s Mysteries first appeared. These individuals selfishly never think about the following: if women allow men to be incorporated into Dianic Mysteries,What will women own on their own? Nothing! Again! Transies who attack us only care about themselves. We women need our own culture, our own resourcing, our own traditions. You can tell these are men, They don’t care if women loose the Only tradition reclaimed after much research and practice ,the Dianic Tradition. Men simply want in. its their will. How dare us women not let them in and give away the ONLY spiritual home we have! Men want to worship the Goddess? Why not put in the WORK and create your own trads. The order of ATTIS for example,(dormant since the 4rth century) used to be for trans gendered people, also the castrata, men who castrated themselves to be more like the Goddess. Why are we the ONLY tradition… Continue reading

Lady L came early and we did a quick run through of the ritual while I put the scalloped potatoes in the oven. Then we set about rearranging my living room, Lady L prepared Brighid’s throne while I put dirt in the pot to stand my stang in and then we tackled the altar. The gang showed up and after the usual preliminaries we got to work.

We went in procession around my home, placing offerings at each shrine and altar, giving a beer and new adornment to the house guardian as well.

We planted the stang, the World Tree. We called on Earth, Sea and Sky to anchor us. We raised a hedgerow around us. We parted the Veil, creating a Gap in the Hedge, above and below and asked someone special to watch and guard.

We lit the Hearth Fire, thanking it for its warmth and light in the cold winter. We honoured the Well, now frozen and full of ice and snow, but waiting the melting of spring. We sat together and… Continue reading

Well, its 2011

For New Year’s Eve I made Brendan and I breakfast for dinner, pancakes and bacon to be exact. For dessert we had a glass of Irish cream.

We live within walking distance of Parliament Hill and downtown Ottawa, so we bundled up a bit (it was only 4 degrees last night) and headed towards downtown. We decided to walk along the Rideau Canal towards downtown, which was pretty icy and slippery, passing young couples making out as we went. We peered through the windows of the National Arts Centre where the wealthy (and mostly middle aged) folks of Ottawa were enjoying dinner in the restaurant there. Finally we came to the canal locks that are right before the canal dumps into the Ottawa River. There’s a big fancy sail boat in dock there for the winter and we joked it must belong to the Prime Minister.

Turning off the canal we walked along the edge of the Ottawa River. At 11:54 we found just the right spot to welcome in the New Year. Below Parliament Hill, the neo-gothic architecture of our national government’s buildings could just be seen high above us. We stood on the edge of a river, which… Continue reading
