Praising of the Great Earth

In a group, you can have the last line repeated by everyone in unison. This was written assuming it would be recited in Ottawa (Canada), you might have to change a line or two in order to suit where you live.

I sing of the foundations of the Earth,

Mother of all, eldest of all beings

She who sustains all the creatures in the world

All things in the sea, all things that fly

Or live upon the ground divine

All that lives, moves and breathes

Are nourished by Her

Hail the Earth, our Mother!

*

Oh great queen!

We are blessed in our children

And in our harvests

We honour the Earth

Who both gives life

And takes it away

Hail the Earth, our Mother!

*

With your blessing

There is fruit ripe on the trees

The land is laden with corn

The pastures covered with cattle

And our larder is full

Hail the Earth, our Mother!

*

With your blessing

We grow and flourish

We live in a prosperous city

Of garden parks filled with flowers

Where women are equals

In the seat of power for our nation

Hail the Earth, our Mother!

Reading For a Wild Geek

I did a collection casting for a member of the Wild Geek Hang (The Hedge’s forum) and she was happy to let me share the results. Of the reading she told me:

The casting was perfect, I actually burst into tears upon reading it.  Thank you so very much for being my “translator” and giving me the kick in the ass I desperately needed.

Her question was that she was wondering where her Path and Practice ought to go, where to focus. And especially which spirits or deities she should be focusing on.

Here it is:

Running through the whole thing like a pair of crosshair or an X is priestessing and shamanism. Shamanism is right at the very bottom though, buried. Priestessing is on top of everything, prominent. Everything else finds itself between, above or below priestessing and shamanism.

Witchcraft & magick is wrapped around the very spot where priestessing (Paganism?) and shamanism meet.

You need to reconcile witchcraft, shamanism and paganism. Bring the pieces together so that they meet, but don’t expect them to be all one in the same. There will be divergences. Sometimes we walk more than one Path at a time; these Paths… Continue reading

Thor

FYI Folks: In the Marvel universe, Thor is NOT a god. He is an alien from another dimension, his people used to hang out on Earth playing at being gods. Then he got exiled back to Earth, with his awesome piece of technology, a hammer that is not magick, just well programmed. It’s a comic book, not the Eddas. Thank you.

The Hollow Bone is an Asshole

I honestly once had someone tell me quote “I don’t create drama, I serve.” in response to my calling her out for bully and drama creating behaviour.

As if being a servant of her god gives her the right to bully, troll, humiliate and create drama. Which god is going to exempt you from being a decent human being? Does she serve the god of assholes? I really doubt her god was commanding her to troll Facebook.

Just because you are god owned (or a hollow bone or a godslave or whatever you wish to call it) does not mean that everything you do is in their service. Nor does it mean you get a free pass on your words and behaviour.

I don’t justify myself by claiming god slave status.

If I mess up and be a bitch and get called on it, I own it, either by apologizing or being a bigger bitch, depending on the situation. But I don’t lay the blame at the feet of Cernunnos. He’d tear my friggin’ head off for that shit.

Of the gods that I have encountered personally, I cannot think of one who would tolerate their servant being an asshat… Continue reading
