Hey Mister Tambourine Man

“The sun is rising behind the Stonehenge monument in England, during the summer solstice shortly after 04:52 am, early Monday, June 21, 2010. Druids, pagans and partygoers crammed into the mystic stone circle to cheer, bang drums and shake tambourines in an effort to greet the sun on the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, the summer solstice.” ~ The Associated Press

Drums and drumming have been on my mind a lot these last few months. This is due to a few different events in my life.

An old friend of Brendan’s visited a while ago and was surprised and disappointed that I don’t play an instrument. It seems “everyone in the old coven was musical and artistic”. Le sigh, sometimes it’s not worth trying to explain to people that graphic design, web design, modelling, and arts & crafts count as artistic. Did I mention I’m a poet … even if most of my poetry is about dogs (hehehe)

Bren of course plays a variety of instruments and has done so since the age of 5. So I am now surrounded by music and musical talent.

A friend of mine recently built a lovely new hand… Continue reading

The book continues to take on a life of its own.

Wanting to be a book that speaks of Witches in the New World, while still looking back to places where the heritage lays it seems to want to focus more on the every day stuff.

As well on Seership, Shamanism and such.

History lessons get dull after a while and suggestions on related arts and craft projects somehow work their way in.

I write to friends and people I respect hoping to get small pieces of insight and wait, wait, wait. Fingers nails clinging to edge.

The Land calls me and tells me to remember to make it the “main character”.

I find myself wondering how much will get cut and how much still needs to be expanded upon.

Is there too much poetry and not enough facts?

Mild learning disabilities make the progress slow and heartbreakingly difficult at times.

Keep going keep going keep going ….

Leave Room For Me!

A while back, the wife of the creator of Tarot comic book emailed me saying they loved my website and sent me a page from the comic book. I didn’t know there were pagan comics books! Cool.

I love this I had to share it as it shows my own fears for the future of paganism. Well … actually I am less concerned about Paganism becoming suburban and sanitary than I am concerned about Witchcraft. (Yes dammit there is a difference!)

I realized the other day I sound a lot like the older folks from the hippy generation out here, afraid that if we keep getting more and more PC and mainstream that one day we will find ourselves sitting in a square building on pews, the congregation being lead by a soccer Mom in a pink sweater-vest.

It a funny balance you know, the Otherkins, the Elfs and the Vampires and stuff drive me up the wall. I mean people think I am crazy; they haven’t met someone who thinks they are a wolf from outer space.
But the Martha Stewart Witches drive me up the same damned wall. I guess you just can’t please me eh?

Now don’t… Continue reading
