Wordless Wednesday: Haters, They’re Gonna Hate

(I always break the Wordless rule and post words! Anyway … This is a trimmed down screen cap from a yahoo group a friend of mine took and then sent me . It was posted some time in the last day or so. I thought you might find it amusing. Names have been covered to protect everyone but myself.)

Sassy the Tambourine

So this is my tambourine. Her name is “Sassy”.

Isn’t she pretty? Let me tell you about her!

I bought her at a music store downtown for about $12. Yep, only $12. I know a lot of people spend good money on their drums but since I have never owned one before I thought it would be wise to start cheap. This way if I decide this was a bad idea, or if I break the thing (I’m clumsy) then I won’t be out of much money.

So this is my “starter drum” and that’s just fine with me.

She has about the circumference of a dinner plate, making her roughly medium sized as far as tambourines go. That seemed like a good size to start with, not too big, not too small. Sassy fits in my hand pretty well though I am finding that my hands get a little sore after a while, partly due to not being accustomed to holding something like a tambourine and partly because I tend to tense up and hold her too tightly.

She has 8 double zils or clackers. I was hoping for 9 because I like that number better but it seems… Continue reading

An Open Letter

First just a quick note to Yahoo group folks: I’ve had the same yahoo email (and been a member of certain group) for years now. *shrug* It would be awfully easy to block me if you really tried. Though (and I doubt you will believe me) the only time I ever check yahoo groups anymore is when someone tells me I was mentioned.

Continuing on …

I know there are many Traditional Witchcraft & Hedgewitch websites, blogs and forums out there … in all honesty (and I doubt you will believe me) I really don’t have the time or the attention span to read most of them, most of the time. I am also not a member of most of them. My Internet presence is pretty obvious, I have all of three email address I use for such things after all and I always call myself either Juniper or Alejandra or some variation thereof.  I have nothing to hide, so I don’t.

I can assure you I do not practice plagiarism, but if you feel I might have … please feel free to gather your evidence and sue me.

If I ever write something simular to someone else then that… Continue reading

Dragged into Dream Walking

I have a confession to make dear friends.

I haven’t been walking the Hedge much lately. I have crossed only a handful of times this past year and only once in the last 4-5 months or so. In fact the last year has certainly been a little light on the practice side of things. At least, compared to what I was doing the two or three years previous.

I am being called back, pulled back in. One answers the call to this kind of Craft, to shamanize, and there is no turning back. There can be periods where you don’t practice as much or at all but eventually the spirits, the otherside, comes looking for you again. For me this call-back comes in my sleep, when I find myself in dangerously uncontrolled crossings.

This kind of crossing, this un-chosen dream walking, is not like other crossings. There is no preparation, no ritual acts, no calling upon guardian or guiding spirits and ancestors, no decision, and no direction. It is rather like going for a swim and having someone come up underneath you, unexpectedly grabbing a leg and pulling you under.

I sleep as if in a fevered state.

I dream… Continue reading
