I discovered this website a few months ago, but wasn't ready for it. And now, I've been led back to it, and it feels as refreshing and welcoming as a glass of cool water. (Sorry, that sounds terribly corny, but it's absolutely true.)
This article is so utterly TRUE. I've only just begun my journey, really, and it's been eight years in coming. I know exactly what you mean by the "fluffy staff" (I have a couple of "fluffy wands" that make me cringe, too ^_^). This article almost made me cry for joy. Juniper, you have an amazing ability to write frankly and kindly, and to virtually slap someone awake in a pleasant way. You've gotten me awake half a dozen times! Thank you so much for this amazing article and site. Beautiful.

Firstly: Hello!! I just came across your blog today and was happy to see a fellow witch from Ottawa :D

I have to totally agree with what you have said here. I'd also add that instinct still has a place in study, especially when it comes to paganism. For every great book our there, there's 10 more that are complete crap. It's important, I think, to weed through these and find those that resonate within. I started studying 12 years ago and am just now starting to figure out what's right for me. It's hard work, faith. It doesn't come easy, at least not for me. So many people are so willing to just introduce themselves to their chosen Gods and expect some great return without the necessary dedication for their path.

Sure, it's different from The Big Three. Most of us don't have priests spoonfeeding your readings, lessons and assignments every week. For me, that's part of the dedication. Proving your interest, your devotion, through your efforts.
