25(ish) Things About Me

I hate numbers. They are not my friends. Therefore, this list is not numbered and I am not counting how many facts I list. You will receive roughly 25 facts about me, less if this gets boring and more if I find this exercise interesting or fun.

I am a pagan and a witch (but not Wiccan)  I have never been a member of any non-pagan spirituality or religion.

I belong to the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids and have been taking their audio Bardic grade course, but I took a long break over the Yule season and I need to start over again, my yearlong course will probably take me 3 years.

I used to smoke, and then I quit. That was about 6 years ago. I still want a cigarette now and then.

I have a lot of will power, but it’s not natural to me.

At the time of writing this, I have a backache.

Some people consider me to be sweet and humble and others consider me arrogant and irritating. Maybe I should introduce them to each other.

I can shovel dung, manure and dog-doo all day but hate doing the dishes and avoid them… Continue reading

I Choose

I dance here in the present

Rushing into the future

Leaving the past behind

Always in the moment

I choose to believe in magick

The journey is my destination

The destination is my journey

What is the point of asking why?

Answers only lead to more questions

I choose mystery

The questions are the answers

And the answers are the questions

I don’t want to know all the answers

Nothing is for sure

This is the only certainty

I have no need to reason the world away

I choose to believe

Because I want to believe

I can question my reality

Or I can live it

It is not perfect

I do not wish it to be

If I am but part of a greater whole

Playing at being me

Then I choose to play

And not weep or worry

I dance here in the present

Rushing into the future

Leaving the past behind
Always in the moment

Us vs Ourselves

Us vs Ourselves

One of the things that always bothered me the most about the Pagan/Heathen/Witch/Occult community is how various groups view other groups. It is human nature to form groups, and to think your group is better than others; it is even human nature to feel the need to disparage other groups. I know this, yet it still irritates me to no end.

Perhaps it is because I am the sort who does not fit easily, or at all, into groups. I have always felt disturbed when one of my fellow humans makes a comment that begins “All BLANKS are…” Are we humans so weak minded, so easily threatened that we feel the need to disparage others in order to make ourselves feel better about who we are, what we do, and which group we belong to?

I spent much of my teen years demanding defiantly that people not try to fit me into their preconceived labels.

I walked away, angry, ashamed and frustrated from Wicca as a young adult. Tired of people looking down their nose at others, feeling they have the right to tell someone else who they are, what they do, which group they belong to.… Continue reading

Clearing, Cleansing & Purifying Overuse

Clearing, Cleansing & Purifying Overuse

There is something I find very common to newbie ritual and Wicca based ritual and tool care. This is cleansing, purifying and charging everything before and after use. You all understand there is a difference bewtween clearing or purifying and blessing, right? Good!

Lets say that I am doing a ritual bath and I want to use the energies of some oak leaves for my bath … I can understand why you would want to wash any bugs off the leaves before you used them, but why cleanse them?

Why cleanse something of its energies, consecrate or charge it with your own energies and then try to use its energies? You just replaced those energies with your own. Once you cleanse and charge the oak leaves, they don’t have oak energies anymore, you got rid of those oak energies.

People constantly cleanse everything of everything and then wonder why they have nothing.

Cleansing and purifying something makes it a blank slate, it clears it of all energies. Unless you are careful to make sure in your words, focus and intent that you are only clearing certain energies, such as only the negative energies. But even… Continue reading
